T 4 Kit Method for Thyroid Function Tests (Report No.3)

Abstract
The serum thyroxine levels were determined by competitive protein binding analysis using Tetrasorb
1251 Kit in 878 cases with various thyroidal states, the results of which were compared with those
of 24 hour protein bound radioactive iodine Conversion ratio obtained in 299 cases.
The external scintillation counts of hepatic radioactivities in 215 cases were also measured. Followings were the results;
1) The mean values of T-4 test were 10.1¡¾2.8ug/dl in normal 92 cases, 9.0¡¾3. lug/dl in 216 diffuse
nontoxic goiter ¢¥and 9.1¡¾2.4 ug/dI in 304 nodular nontoxic goiter. The mean value of these 612 euthyroid cases was 9.1¡¾2.6ug/dl. The mean value in 239 hyperthyroid cases was 19.1¡¾4.2?ug/dl, while that in 27 hypothyroid cases was 3.5¡¾2-4ug/dl.
2) The mean values of 24 hour protein bound radioactive iodine (1-131) coversion ratio were 26.3¡¾ 14.2% in 212 euthyroid cases, 68.9¡¾16.7% in 76 hyperthyroid cases and 8.6¡¾4.5% in Hypothyroid cases.
3) The diagnostic compatibilities of T-4 test were 90.3% in 612 euthyroid cases, 90.8% in 239 hyperthyroid cases and 81.5% in 27 hypothroid cases, the overall mean value of which was 90.2%, while was 79.9% with 24 hour protein bound radioactive iodine conversion ratio.
4) The external scintillation counts of hepatic radioactivies were 12.572¡¾4.417 cpm in 147 euthyroid
cases, 18.923¡¾6.324 cpm in 62 hyperthyroid cases and 7.627¡¾2.831 cpm in 6 hypothyroid cases.
The differences in value among those were statistically significant.
